His remarks come in response to recent underwhelming performances by a number of national teams at the competition, including the early elimination of the Black Meteors from the 2023 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations (AFCON), which is currently taking place in Morocco.
Despite setting a goal of placing in the top three to end their lengthy absence from the Olympic Games, Ghana failed to even advance past the group stage.
The team finished with just four points, but was eliminated due to a poor goal differential against Guinea, which advanced alongside Morocco to the next round.
The most recent failure adds to Ghana's lack of success in a variety of tournaments, including the Black Stars' elimination from the 2021 AFCON and the 2022 World Cup in the group stage, among other championships.
Agyemang Badu, who had a long and fruitful career with both the Black Satellites and the Black Stars, is concerned about the state of the game in Ghana right now and is urging for immediate change.
"When I talk, I don't get anything from it, but I'm talking because the sport that gave me something, is about to die, and I can't just look on," he said to Joy FM.
"The GFA needs to call an urgent meeting tomorrow to assess the situation. It's risky where our football is going.
"Football in Ghana is playing in a risky time. Qualification for important competitions could become challenging in a few years if caution is not exercised, he added.
